| COPE is an exciting
outdoor activity that can attract and keep older boys
in Scouting. It is designed to meet the
needs of today's youth who are seeking greater challenges
to their physical and mental abilities.
Opportunity for each participant
to achieve success as an individual and as a member
of a patrol or team.
The activities are not designed to be competitive or
to be races against time.
Personal confidence, developing
leadership skills and attaining a sense of common cooperation
among team members are some of the more important objectives
of Project COPE.
Each COPE participant will build
more self-confidence in a shorter length of time than
anything most people have experienced. Most
participants find they can do much more than they initially
thought they could.
In keeping with B.S.A National C.O.P.E. Standards,
participants minimum age of 13 or the rank of first
class scout.
The on site COPE director will decide all exceptions.
The goals and objectives of the B.S.A. C.O.P.E. Program
are to develop:
- Leadership
- Problem Solving
- Communications
- Self Esteem
- Trust
- Decision Making
- And Teamwork
The C.O.P.E. Staff will work to develop these goals in
each and every participant.
As always, SAFETY comes FIRST, Learning and Fun are
next, BUT NOT at the cost of SAFETY.
After your arrival in camp there will be a brief orientation
period on Friday night as prearranged. C.O.P.E. activities
will begin on Saturday morning and continue throughout
the day with a brief lunch break.
NOTE: All those camping do not need to be participating
in COPE. Someone else in the unit should prepare lunch
for those doing COPE.
Keep the menu light for lunch. They will be hungry come
dinner. |
