Description

Settlers Camp is one of Minsi Trails Council's two Boy Scout camps. It is located within the Trexler Scout Reservation in the beautiful Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains, ten miles northwest of Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania. This 900-acre reservation is also home to Akelaland, our Cub Scout resident camp, and Hawkeye Wilderness camp, available for "in site patrol cooking" and year-round for short-term camping.

In January 1927, General Harry C. Trexler offered to buy a proposed campsite in Monroe County for the Boy Scouts of the Lehigh Valley. He stipulated however that the equivalent of the purchase price had to be raised for the purpose of development, improvement, and maintenance. The program was carried out successfully. Trexler Scout Reservation has since developed into one of the Northeast Region's finest Scout Camps.

Premier attributes of the Trexler Scout Reservation are two lakes; Trexler Lake, where the waterfront is located, teems with bass and an assortment of other fish, and Lake Minsi that abounds with rainbow trout. "Barb-less" hooks are used and all but injured fish are released. The reservation contains more than 25 miles of hiking and orienteering trails. Varied wildlife makes the reservation its home and allows both youth and adults the opportunity of experiencing and interacting with nature first hand. It also has one of the largest COPE courses in the Northeast Region of the Boy Scouts of America.
