New Programs at Summer Camp in 2011
As we are wrapping up our 2010 camping season, we are already planning for the 2011 season. We will have full details about these new programs in the coming months but I wanted to inform all of you about what we are planning for.
Fish Camp - An older boy program based at Camp Minsi but open to all Troops, Crews and individuals regardless of where you go to camp. Each day of camp will be a different fishing experience. One day may be lake fishing, followed by stream fishing, followed by fly fishing. We are also trying to get some participantion with the people at PA Fish and Game for some support with this new program. This will be offered all six weeks of camp!
River Trails of the Delaware - An older boy program based at Camp Minsi but open to all Troops, Crews and individuals regardless of where you go to camp. This will be a continuation of the Minsi Canoe Trek that has run during week #3 the past two years. We plan to offer some more opportunity to explore sites along the way and share in the history of the Delaware River and its Native American inhabitants. This program will be offered all six weeks of camp!
Webelos Week at Camp Minsi - This is a program designed to compliment the current Webelos Summer camp Program at Akelaland. It will be geared towards those boys going from 4th to 5th grade and will allow those boys to experience summer camp at a Boy Scout Camp while still participating in Webelos level activities. It will expose them to what crossing over to Boy Scouts has to offer. This program will only run during the 6th week of camp.
COPE and Sailing Camp Crossovers - We have talked about the possibility of shuttling Scouts that are attending Camp Minsi that want to participate in COPE to Settlers Camp each day and Scouts that are attending Settlers Camp that want to sail to Camp Minsi each day for a few years now. It is our hope that this will become a reality in 2011. We already have a solid plan just need to finalize it. This crossover program will allow all of our Boy Scouts the best of both worlds. Stay tuned for more information.
