Scout Executive’s Minute
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Craig Poland and I am proud to be the new Scout Executive for Minsi Trails Council. I have been involved in Scouting my entire life and have served as a professional Scouter for nearly 25 years. Scouting has been a significant force in my life and I am excited about this new opportunity to support a program I strongly believe in … Scouting in Minsi Trails. I am excited to get started and look forward to meeting you at an upcoming roundtable or event. This is going to be a great year for Scouting and our council, and I am glad each of you will be a part of it.
2010 Family Friends of Scouting Campaign
The kick-off of the 2010 campaign is now here! All units are asked to participate in this fundraising effort to support the quality programs and activities for our Scouts. Although finances may have gotten more challenging over the past year or so, here’s your chance to make the safest investment you can find any where: in your children and Scouting.
Are you ready for Cub Scout Day Camp?
Cub Scout Day Camp is truly the best week of a Cub Scout’s Summer! So don’t let your son miss out on all the fun and excitement that Day Camp has to offer such as crafts, games, archery, and much, much more.
Boy Scout Camp 2010 - Are you Ready???
Are you ready for the 2010 summer camping season at either Camp Minsi or Settlers Camp? By now your Troop should already be signed up and have submitted your best guess for your attendance. Coming up on March 15th is our Pre-Camp Leader's Meeting being held at Northeast Middle School Auditorium in Bethlehem starting promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Boy Scout Day Camp
Not quite ready for overnight camp? Want to see what camp is like? Maybe you have a part time job in the evenings or need customized schedule? Looking to get a head start on your Boy Scout Advancements? Need to complete your Merit Badge partials? Just want to have some more fun???
Provisional Camping at Camp Minsi or Settlers Camp
Can’t go to camp with your Troop? Want to spend more than one week at camp and work on Merit Badges you need to complete? Looking for a fun time just sailing, shooting, archery, climbing, Mountain Biking, C.O.P.E. or other camp activities with advancement in mind? Want to camp on “Your Time”? Don’t know how to do it? Well the answer may be as simple as linking up with a Provisional Troop!
Hall of Leadership Deadline Extended to April 2, 2010
We need nominations for the National Hall of Leadership. We know that everyone is busy with 1OOth Anniversary and other Scouting activities, but please take the time to recognize outstanding leadership in our council. The nomination deadline has been extended to April 2, 2010. Our goal is to get the broadest representation possible from our council. Based on this new schedule, the final group of inductees — one from each local council and one from the national council — will be announced July 31st as part of the 1OOth Anniversary events at the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. Submit your nomination today! Don’t miss this one-time opportunity to recognize outstanding leadership by a Scout, registered Scout leader, or Scouting volunteer who made a significant difference in the life of another by the extraordinary service they have given.
Need assistance locating a Fleur-De-Lis
Pack 72 of Fogelsville is trying to locate an 8-10 foot Fleur-De-Lis made out of re-bar. It was first made for and used at a camporee at Grabers farm on Delps Road. It was borrowed from Ralph Roth several years ago and never returned. Please contact N.W. Cope with any information 610-395-0002.
Philmont 2011
Even though 2010 is not even here yet, Now is the time to start planning for Philmont 2011. The Minsi Trails Council has just received confirmation of our slots for 2011 treks. The dates to plan for are July 12, 2011 through July 24, 2011. Stay turned for more information in the future. Trainer's Edge 2010
Are you currently a district trainer? Would you like to become a trainer? The Trainer’s Edge Conference is a few short weeks away. You may sign up for the Basic course or the Advanced course. The course will be held in Bethlehem at St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church. Registration is at 7:30 AM. The course runs from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. The deadline to register is February 12th.
