5.1  Lehigh Valley Scoutreach

Increase number of youth in viable Scoutreach Programs in the Lehigh Valley.

- Collaborate with other community organizations (churches, civic clubs, non-profits) to provide Scouting programs in the community.

- Strengthen Scoutreach Com. to support unit program.

5.2  Monroe & Luzerne County Scoutreach

Improve program outreach to underserved youth in Monroe and Luzerne Counties

- Youth density in Anthracite District is 9.5%.

- Youth density in Monroe County is 13.5%.

- Employ 2 full time Unit Serving Executives (1 Hispanic).

- Serve 500 new youth in Monroe County Scoutreach.

- Increase Anthracite District density to 17%.

- Make Scouting available to all youth in all communities in Monroe  & Luzerene Counties.

- Help staff and volunteers better understand the diversity of our communities.

- Assemble study committee to review current levels of staff service & determine communities with opportunities for growth.

- Conduct focus group discussions with local minority leadership

- Present recommendations to Executive Committee, Fund result, and Implement.

- Secure funding from Monroe County.

 

- Study Committee assembled & recommendations made (March ’04).

- Fund & implement results (Sept. ’04).

- 4 programs with 60 youth by Dec. ’04.
